Lenné3D is a privately owned company founded in 2005 as an offshoot from the Leibniz-Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), Zuse Institute Berlin, Hasso Plattner Institute Potsdam and the University of Konstanz. Since early 2007, Lenné3D GmbH is ESRI ArcGIS Integration Partner. From 2002-2005, the research project of the same name on computer graphics assisted participatory landscape planning was funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) with 1.5 million Euros. In the year 2000, the DBU funded a “Feasibility Study for a Visualization Tool” . This research project helped to identify deficits of available landscape visualisation software and specify requirements of a novel 3D landscape visualisation system. Within the context of the feasibility study, a survey of current and potential professional users of 3D visualisation software in Germany was conducted. In addition, a case study was undertaken, in which a participatory landscape project was supported with interactive 3D computer simulations created by adapting computer-game technology. |
