Team

Our team comprises of computer artists, landscape architects, landscape designers, physicists, botanists and programmers.

Philip Paar, Managing Director
Philip Paar, Dipl. Landscape Planning, initiated in 1999 the research projects into 3D landscape visualisation. From 2000-2005 he was the project manager for the projects "Feasibility Study for a Visualisation Tool" and "Lenné3D", funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU). He was a research associate at the Leibniz-Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) in the Institute of land Use Systems and Landscape Ecology, Socio-economy and Landscape Modelling, Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) as well as employee at the Federal Office for Nature Protection. Amongst other things, he was an advisor for greenworks organic software (Xfrog™) and Berlin’s city development administration.

Malte Clasen, Software Developer
Malte Clasen is a research associate in the Department of Visualization and Data Analysis at the Zuse Institute Berlin. He is currently working on his doctoral thesis in computer science about interactive visualization of large landscapes.

Jörg Rekittke, Landscape Architect

Dr. Jörg Rekittke (1966), landscape architect and skilled nursery gardener, studied at the Technical University Berlin and Ecole Nationale Supérieure du Paysage Versailles. Teaching assistant at RWTH Aachen University from 1997 – until 2001 at Department of Landscape Design, from 2001 at Department of Urban Design and Regional Planning. Doctorate from RWTH Aachen University in 2001.  Employed 2004-2006 as Associate Lecturer at Department of Town Planning, Urban- and Regional Planning, University of Siegen; 2006 as Associate Lecturer for the international Masters program in Landscape Architecture, Hochschule Anhalt;  December 2006 onwards as Assistant Professor at the Chair of Landscape Architecture, University of Wageningen, the Netherlands.

Hans-Christian Hege, Senior Scientist - Software Development
Hon.-Prof. Hans-Christian Hege, Dipl. Physicist, leads the Department of Visualisation and Data Analysis at the Zuse Institute Berlin. He developed numerous modern techniques and algorithms in computer graphics, data visualization and image analysis for academia and headed the development of the visual data analysis system Amira™. He was co-founder of successful companies in a range computer graphics and visualisation, e.g. Indeed Visual Systems (now a part of Mercury Computer Systems) and mental images (mental ray™). Amongst other things, he teaches at the German film School - University for Digital Media Production, Elstal.

Oliver Deussen, Computer Scientist
Prof. Oliver Deussen is co-founder of greenworks (Xfrog) and professor at the Department of Computer and Information Science, work group of computer graphics and media design, University of Konstanz. He is a world-renowned researcher in plant modelling and plant rendering.

Liviu Coconu, Software Developer
Liviu Coconu is a Computer Scientist (Dipl.-Infomatiker). Working as research scientist, he developed the prototypes of the Lenné3D-Players at Zuse Institute Berlin from 2002-2004. Presently he is responsible for the commercial advancement of this technology of Lenné3D GmbH. He is currently working on a doctorate in computer-graphic procedures for Non-Photorealistic Rendering of plants and landscapes.

Agnes Kirchhoff , Botanist
Agnes Kirchhoff (Dip.Biol.) provides botanical expertise for 3D plant models and is involved in vegetation modelling for visualisation projects. At landscape architecure bureaus she was responsible  for planning and compilation of vegetation surveys, landscape expertise and environmental impact studies. Furthermore she coordinated the Botanical Node within the German GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) Network at the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem.

Wieland Röhricht, Vegetation Modeller
Dr. Wieland Röhricht is a biologist and Application Developer. He developed the Lenné3D-Software for vegetation modelling and plant distribution (oik). He is a research scientist at the Leibniz-Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF). Amongst other things, he specialised in biotope mapping and processing of aerial photographs at the National Office for Environmental Protection in Saxonia-Anhalt and was a research associate in the Institute for Ecology and Biology in the Technical University of Berlin.
